“Wow. . . a "personal description. " Hmmm. Looking inside yourself can be difficult and people can see themselves differently than someone else, but I will do my best. Hi. . . My name is Laurel. I consider myself an honest and caring person. Honesty and faithfulness are the most important qualities to me. A person´s word and actions speak very loudly. I would say one of my best qualities is my ability to be empathetic. When someone is down, I want to help pick them up. When a friend is in trouble, I am there, even if its 3am. Its amazing what impact a simple smile, a kind word, a light touch, or a big hug can do.

I enjoy spending time with my family watching movies and playing games. I consider myself the laid back type. I love card games and board games but also have a tendency to get into online games and PS3 games, but only in moderation. My favorite genre of movies, tv, and games is Sci-fi. I love the television series "The Walking Dead" and "Ghost Hunters. " I would have to say my favorite movies are, Battle Los Angeles, Avatar, Resident Evil, Lord of the Rings, and the Underworld. . . really anything with aliens, ghosts, or especially zombies. In fact, when I´m bored I sometimes find myself thinking of my zombie escape plan. . . lol.

I also love to swim. It helps me feel better. I used to be a great swimmer in high school, but that was sooooo long ago. I do like to get outdoors as much as possible, even if its just to throw the ball around with my kids. I used to love to play softball, but now that is pretty much impossible. My favorite sport to watch and attend is hockey. I will always remain loyal to the Detroit Red Wings.

My most important goal is to make sure that my kids grow up to be morally just, successful, and the most caring and empathetic kids they can be. Of course I would settle for them to just be happy, but they are already great kids. They excel in karate and it helps them gain discipline, honor, and respect. They have so much courage for having to share this journey we are on since my multiple sclerosis diagnosis. I am also an army veteran.

I´m looking for as many friends as I can get. I really need people I can talk to. Many of my friends and boyfriend at the time abandoned me when I got sick. I consider myself old fashioned, especially when compared to some of the standards of today. I like doors opened for me and I don´t think I would kiss on the first date. I need someone to keep me from beating someone with my cane for staring if I´m not walking very well that day (ha ha just kidding, but have thought it many times. ) I think I would have to be talking to someone for awhile before I could commit myself, because I have been so hurt in the past. I need someone whom I can depend on; a relationship that is based on trust and faithfulness. I need someone that is my best friend; who I can tell anything to without passing judgment. I need the person who can be calm, sit down, and talk everything through, while willing to compromise. Life can be great so I really want to experience that with someone.
